As Heineman sat on the beach, he remembered a fragmentary dream he had previously forgotten or suppressed. He had imagined himself imprisoned in a showcube - the term used in Chalakanesia for a temporally dynamic holographic recording block. To designate such blocks, Chalakanesians consistently prefer the old-fashioned term showcube to the Conference's modern trend-word flopsus, since flopsus reminds Chalakanesians uncomfortably of a children's word for dung.
