The road where the College of Gardeners is located.
Heineman was so intent on his mental manoeuvering that he paid no attention to the noise which grew and grew as he drew near the College of Gardeners. The noise was that of a riot. The students were fighting each other over the question of whether the College should concentrate on Plants of Beauty or Plants of Use, and the fighting had already left seven people seriously injured.
Heineman only became fully conscious of the existence of the riot when scores of students suddenly came scrambling over the wall of the College gardens. These were the warriors of a defeated faction, fleeing from their victorious enemies, who came over the wall in hot pursuit. In moments, Chelming Road was a seething battlefield as far as Heineman could see. Then Bullock went down, hit in the face by a stone. [EoH Ch14]
